Scope: screens, roles and rules

Most of the price is set by what the application has to do. An app with a login, a dashboard and one type of user is a much smaller job than a system with several roles (client, staff, administrator), access rights and complex business rules.

A good way to estimate scope is a list of user actions: who does what, in which order, and what the system must do as a result. The clearer that list, the more accurate the quote.

Integrations with other systems

Payments, bank data, CRM, email, WhatsApp, ERP or AI services are rarely one click. Each integration means aligning with someone else's API, handling errors and testing. Some services are simple (Stripe, for example), others require extra verification and paperwork.

Design and user experience

If you already have a design, the build is faster. If not, we start with a prototype that shows early how the app will work. That is the cheapest moment for changes: a change in a prototype takes minutes, the same change in finished code can take days.

Data, security and legal requirements

Personal data, financial data or documents need encryption, access control, backups and GDPR compliance. It is not a cost to skip, but it should be planned from the start rather than added at the end.

Maintenance after launch

After launch, an application needs library upgrades, error monitoring, hosting and small changes. When comparing quotes, ask what the first year of running costs, not only the build.

Where you can save without risk

  • Start with a minimum viable product that solves the main problem, and add the rest based on real use.
  • Use ready-made parts where it makes sense: login, payments and email do not need to be built from scratch.
  • Prepare examples and a list of priorities before the first meeting.
  • Choose a developer where you talk to the person who builds, because every layer of middlemen makes a project more expensive.

What a quote from Noots looks like

Web applications start from €1,800 (a first version), business applications from €4,500, and complex systems from €9,000. The hourly rate starts from €35, excluding VAT. After a short conversation we send a free scope estimate and a price range, with no obligation. Development is led by one senior engineer, and AI tools speed up repetitive work, so there are fewer middlemen and a shorter build.
